Re: Progressive scan TV and interlaced DVD outputs does it worth

Thanx,

Yes, it’s marketing hype.
Here in Europe for example PANASONIC sells:
TX- 29AK40 with so called “Advanced Progressive Scan”, and the extra gadget called “Dynamic Digital motion”. No mentioning about 100Hz scanning (probably progressive san covers the 100Hz functionality)

There are cheaper models, with so called “100Hz Super Digital Scan”.
There are also evena cheaper models with simple “100Hz Scan”
I don’t know actually what’s the difference ;-(

Estimated price differences:
100Hz Scan + 8 bit resolution: 600-800 USD (I don’t remember)
100Hz Super Digital Scan 8 bit resolution: 700-1000 USD (TX- 29AS10)
Advanced Progressive Scan + Dynamic Digital motion + 10 bit resolution 1300-1500 USD (TX- 29AK40)

Also Sony sells:
100Hz: 700 USD ( KV- 29FX 66 K)
100Hz Digital Plus: (I don’t remember)
Advanced 100Hz Digital Plus: 1300-1500 USD ( KV- 32FX 65 K)
DRC (Digital Reality Creation): > 1500 USD ( KV- 29FQ 75 K)
Digital Reality Creation stands for replicate high definition picture from standard tv signal (sort of vertical and horizontal resolution doubler)

Do you know if Digital Reality Creation is a progressive scan equivalent?

I haven’t seen a progressive DVD player so I cannot value versus a TV progressive capable.
1)
My question is if I use with a non-progressive DVD and having a progressive image with the TX- 29AK40 or an equivalent model?.

2) Can I use the TV progressive image capability to play other sources as cable TV, for example?
3) Does it matter the 8 bit resolution versus 10 bit?
