Re: Cambridge Audio DVD Player

Bryan,

I bought one about 2 weeks ago. I don't have any prior experience with DVD players, but so far I think it's a very nice machine. I looked at the cheaper players out there (Toshiba, Panasonic) and was mostly concerned with build quality, but then at $200 (I paid $450 for the Cambridge) what did I expect? I bought it because the picture looked good (for my wife the video person, and granted it was a nice $7,000 plasma screen at the store which I won't be buying anytime soon), the sound was good (I'm the audio person and it actually sounds really nice with cd's on my NAD/JM Reynaud Twin system) and I know the reputation of the Cambridge products is reasonably solid.

Honestly though, the biggest reason I bought it was that I just couldn't bring myself to buy something at Circuit City, The Good Guys or Sears. I bought mine from people with solid experience at a small video/hi fi shop (and a 7 day refund/30 day store credit policy) who I know will help me out if there are problems. I don't think I'll be taking it two weeks.

I know it's not much help, but no one else seems to have any thoughts on it so for whatever it's worth.
