The center carries most of the dialogue and an awful lot of the rest of the sound in HT. You definately want a good one and want one that matches your main speakers so staying with the same brand is smart.Actually vocals have much more range than just 1KHz. They can go down into the 200Hz range and low baritone voices even a bit lower.
I don't know what the CR5 sells for but I wouldn't expect big discounts on Snell products.
