Although $2000 gets you entry level separates, they are still far better than a flagship receiver. I haven't heard the new Parasound stuff yet, but I like their other gear quite a bit. If you can get by with 85x5, it's probably a good package If not, consider the $1100 Outlaw amp and the Parasound pre/pro. I have the Sherwood Newcastle AVP-9080R pre/pro. It lists for $1200 and is definately worthy of consideration at this price point. Good luck!
