Yes, I know that problem all too well. When I saw the words "UNUSABLE SIGNAL" I knew you had an RCA television! If you have another set of S-cables swap them out. It's possible that one of the solder joints inside your current s-cable is bad, swapping cables will tell you if that's the problem. If you swap s-cables and are still getting the "U S" message, then most probably one (or both) of the s-video solder joints inside the RCA is bad and in need of repair. At any rate, it's not your Toshiba. But as heavy as the RCA is, you're probably wishing it was the Toshiba.
