I needed a splitter so I went to Radio Shack and got a long S video cable and a connector. I cut the cable into three pieces. Spliced the correct wires together and soldered on the connector to the third leg. It works like a champ. It too was for DVD out from my Toshiba SD5109. I needed to feed the reciever and my VCR separately. Hope this helps.
