I just purchased an SVHS deck from JVC(HRS4800). I've played several tapes, both new and previously recorded ones without any problems up
until a day or two ago. After purchasing a brand new Phantom Menace tape, I slapped it in and discovered that there was "noise" which would cascade between the two front channels to the center channel. It would stop, then moments later reappear. I swapped the Star Wars tape with another tape - Men in Black. No problems, sounded great. Then I took an older Stevie Ray Vaughnn videotape and played that....low and
behold, the "noise" reared its ugly head again. However, it seemed to diminish much later in the tape. What gives ????
