Realise that today, modern electronics repair is essentially swap and toss. Gone are the days of repair techs with soldering irons, troubleshooting and replacing faulty components. Now its pull out the whole card, toss it and plug in a new one.As for the 3109 there have been some issues with its firmware, but mostly only with the really old ones. Besides that I have yet to hear of any other serious issues with it.
As for its quality, the local high end home theater place in their top end $140,000 home theater (Martin Logans all around, MK Subs, Lexicon MC-1, Vidikron Vision 1 and Faroujda line doubler) uses guess what?? The 3109.
