I am looking for opinion. Denon 3801 vs. B&K Ref30.Currently I have NHT VT-2, VS-2a speakers and Sunfire Cinema Grand amplifier.
I have to replace my 7 years old Sherwood Dolby ProLogic (no DD or DTS) receiver. I consider receiver or separate preamplifier. The price difference between Denon and B&K is about $1200, and for me it is very important. I have to have component switching capable to handle HDTV signal (for my Pioneer 610HD and Toshiba 5109 DVD player). Also music is important (I would say it is 50/50 for music /HT).If I go with Denon:
1. I would save money (for subwoofer),
2. Could use Denon amplifier to drive additional side speakers,
3. Hope I have the same quality HT sound (DD, DTS) as B&K,
BUT 2 channel music would be worst then B&K.If I go with B&K Ref 30:
1. Better 2 channel for music,
2. Better component switching???
BUT no amplification for additional channels and more expensive. The questions are:
1. Will the difference (using my current speakers) in 2 channel (music) be very noticeable?
2. Will HT sound be almost the same?
3. Will I lose HDTV signal using component connection on Denon?
4. What would you chose?Thanks a lot,
Jacek
