problems with RCA DTC 100, is the unit faulty?

64.10.166.142

I just bought this unit new from the states; i live in Canada. Here are a few tests that i have done with my limited knowledge of hd video. I see artifacts when watching the dtc 100 on my mits x70 front projector. There are lines that run vertically (up/down) the screen that are greenish in colour when viewing through the hd out of the dtc 100 via vga(RGBHV) to vga on my projector. I also notice this when viewing through s video but these greenish lines are more smeared (not quite as noticeable but still there on some scenes) compared to the vga. When i watch dvd through s video there are none of these artifacts whatsoever. Originally i believed that there were problems with the projector and after playing with all the menues and making adjustments i could not minimise these artifacts. So now i think the dtc 100 is faulty and to further reinforce this feeling i hooked it up directly to my computer monitor through vga and bingo, same artifacts, same slightly blurred background, same loss of sharpness(picture looks better through s video than with vga, go figure). Now i know that it is the dtc 100 or one of its cables. Now, with the DTC 100, i used the rg59 coaxial cables that were supplied with the unit to hook up the lnb's to multiswitcher. From the multiswitcher to the receiver i am using rg6 coax. Could the lower grade rg59 degrade the satellite signal which would in turn degrade my picture to some extent on most channels but to a great extent when watching for example Any Given Sunday with the football background(green) and the picture to say the least is unwatchable. Would rg6 make the difference? Second my satellite signal is 90-95% on satellite #101 and only 66-72% on satellite #119(HD signal), would the lower signal have anything to do with the picture quality, my guess is no. Thirdly, could it simply be my dtc 100 s video/ Vga outputs that are wacko. On my prior posts, someone mentionned it was improper set-up/calibration. Although not as knowledgeable with video as i am with high end audio, i am pretty meticulous. If anybody has any idea on how to pinpoint the problem or that has had similar problems please share your input with me. I certainly hope it is not my dtc100 because i could have a problem getting a new one. I hope ups didn't damage it during shipping, oh well i dont want to jump the gun here. Help out there, for high definition's sake!
