i would do the magnet thing, buy a new set (of course arrange to have it delivered) right before delivery show you wife that it has miraculously repaired itself and that it is such a shame that you already bought a new one. then sell the old one on ebay or something. or do what i do to my girlfriend, "honey, i can sell the set we already have for x dollars and the new set will only cost us y dollars so it will really only cost me the difference." i'm not sure how much longer she will go for that one but so far i've upgraded my ht system and t.v 3 times in the last 6 months!
