I have the Loewe Planus...

63.225.127.231

and I am very happy owning it and playing widescreen DVD's on it! On regular cable I usually use the cinema mode, I really don't care about it cropping the top and bottom, unless there's info I need there and then I just put it into 4:3 or panorama. The picture is truly revealing, and it shows all there is to see from the sources. I can tell the difference between watching my Canon GL-1 mini-DV camcorder playback and my Pioneer DV-09 DVD's, and I must say the camcorder looks sharper. That is how revealing the Loewe is, and Canon's website does say that mini-DV is sharper frame by frame than DVD (due to compression), the Loewe confirms this, although the difference is slight. I bought my PLanus on closeout for 2375, and feel this set will last until high def becomes prolific, and I think HD DVD's will come out in another 8 or 10 years, according to etown.com, but who knows??? By then, it'll retire to a side room or bedroom and the sets out then will obviously surpass anything available now.
