I am planning on having one entire 18 foot wall of my livingroom as an entertainment system with a built-in RP TV, L/C/R in-wall speakers, and a built-in audio equipment rack. I've decided on my TV, but I don't know about the inwall speakers or the rack. My question is, which will be better: Inwalls or recessing standard bookshelf speakers that are either front ported or sealed into the wall and hiding them with an acousticly transparent cloth? The reason I want the speakers in the wall are because I will have 2 floorstanders also on that wall for my 2-channel system that will have wall jacks to hook too. My second question is: What are some manufactures that make these in-wall audio racks that have the customized faceplates for your equipment? One last question...What would be the best speakers to put in the wall for up to $1500/pr for the mains and $1000 for the center?
I know inwalls won't sound nearly as good as free standing speakers, but personally I don't care. I have a very good 2 channel system(at least I think so) that I have put together over the last couple years that I plan on keeping for a long time: Kharma Ceramique 1.0's, BAT VT-500 amp, BAT VT-40 Preamp, Sony XA7ES CDP, and LINN Pekin tuner. I just want a pretty good HT system without it getting in the way so I can enjoy a DVD every now and then...Thanks for any info.
