So the newbie here just got a Sony DVP-S570D DVD Player. And page 55 o f the instuctions explains the difference between Letterbox ("displays a wide picture with bands...") and pan scan ("wide picture...cuts off portions that do not fit"). According to the explainations (and accompanying pictures) the PANSCAN should be like watching VHS movie on a normal TV.But when I try them both, they BOTH come out looking like letterbox. Is that because of the DVD being played? Or because I don't have some screen option set somewhere? Or something not yet considered?
