I have a G70U paired with the Faroudja 2200 and the combination is excellent. For the 9" tubes you have, you'll need the quadrupling option. If you have the money for it, the 5000 is the best way to go -- the only other unit with as good a reputation is the Snell & Wilcox interpolator but it has a horrible reputation for difficulty in set-up and being finicky (and the Faroudja is very easy to deal with). If you want to save some money, you might look for a used DP401 (quadrupler) instead of going all of the way for the 5000. This is especially the case given that if we assume HD tv is on the way for real, you have to consider that your Faroudja is going to have a relatively short shelf-life given its rather substantial cost.
Another model that people seem to like is the DWIN transcanner although, not wanting to get attacked on this, I don't believe that it is in the class of the Faroudja and it isn't good enough for the G90 class of projector.
There are a few other quadrupler's out there (e.g., Extron) but the reviews have always come back to "good, but not quite a Faroudja".
