SUBWOOFER FOR B&W MATRIX 805/HTM MATCH FOR BOSTON PV1000??? (sorry, long post)

63.34.224.246

Hi,

I posted a message some time ago re subwoofer choice and shortly afterwards my wife and I embarked on our honeymoon in the US. Several weeks and re-paid Credit Card bills meant that the subwoofer was on hold for a while.

However, am now definitely ready to make the plunge and have a A and B shortlist as follows and just looking for some feedback or advice.

A List
Boston Acoustics PV1000
REL Storm III
M&K of some type (possibly the 1250)

B
B&W ASW2000
Velodyne (old series - HGS is stratospheric in price in OZ, starting at $3800 for HGS-10 !!!)

My attraction to B&W is my experience with their product but am told that the choice of sub is less critical in terms of voice matching than say a centre or rear speaker.

The B&W is extremely large however and my room is not that accommodating, M&K seem to be a theatre speaker primarily and with the 805 being such a rythmic little speaker I don't want to do anything that may compromise their performance or stereo imaging.

That basically leaves the Storm III or Boston PV1000. Storm was a previous recommendation and I do think its a great sub but perhaps just a shade too big.

I like the Boston although havent had a chance to hear it properly in a dealer where the walls didn't nearly rattle down (thin walls) perhaps not representing the true ability of the sub.

Has anyone heard or used the Boston Acoustics PV1000 and what did they think?

Would I be seriously compromising the quality of the rest of my speakers by going for this one?

I like the fact that the REL strikes a balance between music and theatre and seem to get the impression that the Boston is similar - could someone confirm this?

Thanks for your help.
