Re: Panasonic TU-DST50 HD decoder

Unfortunatly this won't work, The RCA HDTV STB does not have any compatable outputs with the Panny DST50 for HDTV. The way some lucky folks did this was to use a Dish Network 5000 receiver with the optional HDTV modulator. This places any received HDTV content on channel 3 or 4 which the Panasonic thinks is a standard off-air signal and records it to the PVHD1000. Note that this is a digital RF link. There is no quality loss like you get with an analog RF connection.

You may not realize that all the required components needed to do this, both Panasonic and Echostar, or discontinued and very hard to get. The devices go for outragous sums on EBAY. Go to www.avsforum.com
There are some new threads ther with mod kits for RCA DTC100's that can record HDTV on a DV vtr.
