... I'll try.First point is that no automated focussing etc system I've heard of is as good as a carefully done manual one.
Second point is that the more paramaters at your disposal to adjust, the better will be the final picture BUT it does take time and there is a long learning curve to educate oneself.
So, if tweaking is not your thing then go for a widescreen TV. However, not all projectors require heaps of tweaking but then not all of them give good pictures.
Bottom line for projectors probably depends on the backup support you can get. Before buying one from a retailer ask them to put you in contact with other owners so you can learn about how much support they have received. The local retailer we purchased our BARCO from went out of business a month or so later but BARCO in Melbourne have been exceptionally helpful through their 1800 phone number so I have gradually learnt how to control the beast here and am now getting stunning pictures - far better than the original set up.
