Just got the Integra 6.2 with PRO LOGIC 2, and I must say that it creates a more immersive experience than regular Dolby Pro Logic. The surround soundstage is larger, with a faint, but distinctly different feeling from the rear channels than with regular Dolby Pro Logic.I also listened to a little bit of stereo music with the Pro Logic 2 Music version (there are two decoding versions of ProLogic2 - Movie and Music) and it did a very good job of putting the right things in the correct speakers which amazed me. Vocals were directed to the center channel, while most of the stereo music cues were still sent to the correct left and right speakers. The surrounds were use nicely also, giving me a very good sense of ambience. The only problem I did encounter was a slight bit of floating or drifting of the music, in that it was tied tightly to the specific stereo speakers. For instance if you listen to a stereo recording and the guitar is distinctly in the right speaker, then that is where it stays. But with the PL2 Music mode a guitar that was supposed to be in the right speaker was focused to the right side of the soundstage, but it tended to float a bit towards the center and then back to the right. Not a major problem, but a little disconcerting. I don't think I will be doing alot of music listening in PL2 Music mode, but will try it for fun once in awhile.
As far a Movie mode is concered, it acts just like PL, but much, much better. In fact movies that I have watched that are encoded only in Dolby Surround or Dolby Digital 2.0 which are decoded with DPL2, had more of a sense that you might actually be listening to a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, with a bit less discrete separation between rear channels. Very nice - and a worth addition to any home theater where you might watch alot of TV or movies in Dolby Surround or Dolby Digital 2.0.
