Thank heavens I found this forum. I've been looking all over the net for some answers on higher quality video formats. I want to output Quicktime movies I make on my Mac to something better than VHS. My graphics card has an S-video output, so I think for now I'll buy an S-VHS VCR, but I've got some incredibly basic questions about S-Video. Does the better video quality of S-VHS show up on any TV, or do I need a special monitor to see the benefits? If I play an S-VHS recording on a regular VCR, will I still see the difference in quality? Also, can an S-VHS recording be converted to Beta SP?Also, if I decide to go the MiniDV/Firewire route instead, how do I playback DV cassettes? Can I play them on a regular VCR or only on a digital VCR?
I'm sure these are incredibly basic questions, but it's been surprisingly hard to find answers. Thanks much.
