So, stereo/surround aside, is it possible to set up a system that is fully immune from that wasteland known as TV?

In other words, if one has a TV, DVD, some sort of amp/speaker combo, and *no* antenna, cable, sat, etc., can this be a movies-only thing?

I'm assuming that DVD players do not have any receiver capabilities, unlike traditional VCRs.
