HELP!!! (I'm really stupid)

Bought myself a used Pioneer DVD-333, but didn't get an owner's manual. I know how to make it play CDs, but don't know what to do to play a DVD. I know I could connect the audio and video outs on the player to my basic TV's audio and video ins. But then the NAD integrated and speakers aren't involved and I'm not hooked up to play CDs.
Questions:
(1) Can I connect the audio out of the player to the CD ins on the amp and connect the video out of the player to the TV in and get DVD sound (as well as CD sound)?
(2) Can I use my current CD interconnects for the audio part and just get a single video interconnect or do I hafta get one of these three connector interconnect sets?
Sorry to bother with such an elementary question. The Radio Shack guy was a prick and I couldn't follow his brush off explanation. If you have an answer for me, could you please type slowly and clearly, assuming I'm a 4 yr. old (or my wife)? Thanks!
