Subwoofers low vs. high level inputs

194.209.91.2

Hi,

Any opinion would be very appreciated.
Question 1:
Should I go for ?:
A) LFE (low level) from surround processor
B) Speaker (high level) from amplifier, feeding subwoofer amplifier
PROS:
A) direct signal path from processor (low distortion) and if XLR used, lower noise
B) similar sound character with main channels (same source)

CONS:
A) 2 cross over in the signal path, if processor’s crossover can’t be switched off, and subwoofer cross over can’t be skipped and complete LFE signal
B) 2 amplifiers in the signal path and only main L, R signal (which could be different than LFE)

Question 2:
Why we need processor uses cross over for LFE signal ?
Question 3:
Which is better: the processor or the subwoofer crossover ?. Consider that both are hi end products.
Final Question :
Should I pay more for a subwoofer with both input types. I listen 80 music 20 HT, and I have in mind the DVD-A which contains dedicated LFE channel.

Thanks in advance.
