I would use the 5.1 analog outs ONLY if you find the DD/DTS decoders on the DVD player are better than the one on the Amp.I have used both the Toslink (Optical) and SPIDF (Coaxial) and experimented much with both......... i still like the SPIDF connection better.... it just sounds better on my system.
