I am not familiar with this particular model. However, Pioneer seems to have a good reputation for DVD engineering. Also, I have only good experiences with my Pioneer DV-525 DVD player which I gather would be somewhat similar to the one you mention. (Look out for noisy transport mechanism though - mine has this and it would bother some people, others wouldn't mind for video playback.)Best,
