I recently purchased a Mitsubishi 55" Gold series. While i am running a satellite receiver, i too am noticing exactly what your experiencing.Cable companies are simply receiving satellite broadcasts and pumping them into your house via a very, very long coaxial cable. This is one of the reasons that they are lower resolution than a direct satellite link.
I never really noticed how much the color or clarity changed when going from channel to channel on my smaller TV's before ( 27" RCA and a 27" Magnavox). Some channels are very washed out while others have too much red, etc.... It's hard to find a good balance.
I will probably optimize the color settings for movie playback via DVD and not worry about broadcast TV too much. Now my problem is finding a good DVD player. Sean
