Center Speaker resonates on top of TV??

I have a Mission 77c1 center speaker on top of my Sony Wega tv. I have noticed that male voices seem to sound a little boomy through this speaker. I think I have found the problem though: the hollow plastic enclosure of the tv seems to add an undesirable "boxy" effect to certain frequencies coming from the speaker. I guess its hollowness seems to resonate quite a bit with male voices. Have any of you noticed this same effect. I have it temporarily solved by placing a folded blanket under the speaker to absorb? any vibrations fromt he speaker before they cause the tv to resonate. Now the voices are clear and natural, without a hint off tubbyness. Obviously this is an ugly fix, but I was wondering if there is anything on the market, that can be used for this purpose. Any other suggestions? I hope this doesn't seem too ridiculous... Thanks!
