Your Toshiba dvd player is capable of line doubling the dvd image on a monitor that has a built in line doubler (HDTV) or is HDTV ready with an external line doubler. The progressive scan feature is only for use with these types of monitors. There are a few reasonably priced external line doublers - check Stereophile Guide to Home Theater magazine, Home Theater magazine or the Perfect Vision web-site.
