I haven't heard the CC6 units. So, I can't pin point your sonic discrepencies. All I can suggest is altering what you already own.1) Try plugging the port which is the most likely to work.
2) What's the interior look like? Unscrew the woofers. You can play with the amount of acoustic stuffing. Or if this is making matters worse, hot glue cardboard rigidly about the interior perimeter in a semi-cylindrical shape to reduce box size.
