Recently I began to notice an issue with my simple video rig. When playing a DVD the corners or sides of certain objects on the TV seem to shimmer. Last night, (watching a DVD) there was a scene in which the lead character was in a room with a few windows behind him. The sides of the windows seemed to wiggle or vibrate very slightly. (It was most prominent on the vertical sides & corners.) Its difficult to describe the effect but its as if the sides or corners of the object are shimmering slightly.I have noticed this issue with newer DVD's as well as older ones - so I don't attribute this problem to the actual (DVD) disc. What would be the likely culprit - my DVD player? My TV? For the video portion I am using an inexpensive Pioneer 563A > component cables > four year old basic Toshiba TV. (TV does not have any digital inputs.) For the audio I run a pair of cables from the stereo outs of the Pioneer 563A > tube preamp > power amp> speakers. FWIF the DVD player is located on my stereo rack, which is about 8 feet away from the TV.
TIA for any suggestions.
