Hooked up the Magnavox on a splitter with my Sony KV-27FV310 standard def TV, quickly adjusted to match the Sony's SD picture. The Mag does look a little softer, but this set will be used for near-viewing/gaming, so that may be a plus. Also the SVM is non-defeatable, but still looked fine. To match I had to turn the Sony's Clear Edge VM from "off" to "low. The Sony has a lot more adjustments, but I paid almost $200 more for it (and it isn't HD). I do still prefer the Sony's SD picture, but it's real close.Hooked it up to a Motorola 6412 HD-DVR and it looked great. There are only a couple of local HD channels that my cable co. have that were in HD, that I could compare with a Zenith OTA HD unit going into my Pioneer 64" HDTV. The picture on the Magnavox looked awesome, and even better than the Pioneer on "low bit" HD such as PBS (due to their 4 channels of multicasting.) Of course, take the size difference in consideration.
IMHO, if you can spend more on a 27" HDTV, check out the other sets. But if you are like me and had a certain budget (which I actually went over slightly), and want cheap HD, this TV is fine.
