2D to 3D conversion freeware for DVDs? (with colored glasses)

Guys,
Does anyone know freeware software that can generate a three-dimensional version out of a two-dimensional original? I'm looking to experiment with my DVD collection. I did a few Google-searches, but it's simply too much to get a grip on.
As far as I could tell, there is software that can do what I'm looking for, but I've only found commercial and professional products. The tutorials I've read so far suggests that conversion from simple 2D into 3D gives odd color shifts, so I'd like to play with it first, before I actually buy anything.
