Is the TV AC power cord connected directly into a wall outlet or power strip -or- is it plugged into the back of the cable box?

If it were plugged into a 'switched outlet' on the back of the cable box, there should be no power indicator illuminated on the TV itself when the cable box is turned off.

On the other hand, if the TV is plugged into it's own AC outlet/power strip, just turning off the cable box will not turn off the TV.

Personally, I would not leave the TV turned ON 24/7.
