Cant' really comment on the composite to svidoe conversion...Regarding the PIP - yes they shoudl go to the projector and not the receiver. Most recievers I know of do not have PIP capability.
Again, take this as a grain of salt - I don't really know the specs on the 5800 but in general that's what I understand.
