Re: What screen do I need for a Panny 700?

Hmmm. Here is a link below to some screens at BB. I too am new. we went with a 60" sony grand wega kdf-60wf655. I do not think the dedicated screen home projection systems are quite there yet. Then again I am wrong all the time. The first of the 1080p HDTV's are coming out this summer. The newest HD-DVD players should be out this fall also. Why not go to BB and look around at the screens? You can then go to streetprices.com, ir bottomdollar.com to price shop for the best deal on your screen.

You already know that bright sunlight that you have plenty of in the desert is the enemy of projection equipment. You may find you need dark drapes behind the wood shutters to keep it nice and dark. If it is too light you will have to run the bulb at the brightest setting. That shortens bulb life and means the coolong fan will have to work extra hard which makes noise. I too am a tube stereo person. I am using 45 monos for the high frequency and mid range and 300b and/or el34 mono blocks for the bass bins. At least my 6' tall JBL 4675C are THX certified as real movie theater speakers. :) I hope to buy the Fosgate tube surround processor when I have an extra 13K to spend when I get back to work. Good luck on your home theater. John
