Sky Captain Not Playing In Widescreen

I made sure the copy I bought was in widescreen format which is clearly indicated on the back and front of the box.
I got it for $10 at Circuit City. Is there a known problem with this DVD? I do not see anywhere in the menus to enable WS as some DVD titles include both versions.
TIA. All other movies I tried afterwards do play in WS so I don't believe it is an incorrect setting on my player.
