I've got a Sharp Z10000 series dlp that has component and DVI inputs. I've been using an outboard Runco scaler designed for DLP projectors (specifically for dlp). Recently, I bought a Denon 3910 dvd player and I've now compared component output (interlaced) through the Runco to a straight progressive signal from the Denon (HDMI to DVI using Van den Hul cable and adapter) to the projector. The old interlaced approach using component and the Runco has a better picture (sharper, richer colors). Now one of the things I've noticed is that the Runco is outputting at 750p into the Sharp (when you switch inputs on the sharp, it shows the scanning resolution) but the Denon is only at 480p.
If I "force" the Denon to output 720p or 1080i, the picture on the Sharp dlp has what looks like green static lines scattered across the picture (but not for 480p).
Any suggestions or is this likely an incompatibility problem of the Denon with the Sharp dlp?
thanks in advance -- chris
