that being said you can get into a 50" 720p plasma set for about 2500..vizio 50" set you can order it direct ,, or i would just stroll on down to my local costco and pick itup there ,, aslo they have a kick ass return policy

i wouldn't deal with rp's , i have never liked their awkward veiwng angles and dropouts,, also you will be looking at a bulb replacement for sure,,

do not let anyone try ans scare you away form a plasma, cause right now , t i think they are it when it comes to picture quality and also living room realestate, hell it was way eisaier tlaking the wife into a 50" plasma than the 62" rp i thought about getting,,

also on thw 1080p format issue,, there isn't gonna be any source material for a while and second the broadcasters are not gonna give up the bandwidth to deliver a true 1080p signal anytime in the forseable future,, (maybe in the next 5yrs,, if we are very lucky) , i mean look how long it took for us to get marginal high-def??

so i wouldn't wait out for that 1080 set just yet ,, i would find somehting now that 1, meets your budget requirement, 2 has great PQ,,

and then see in the future if you will even ultilize 1080p,,,
