I'm in the same boat, with a Pioneer PRO730 in between my speakers. If you go to some of the pro audio web sites (or have access to their catalogs) look under acoustic material. They sell packages of paneling, designed to either absorb or diffuse sound waves.

Or you could diy with certain fiberglass materials (covered with fabric) Check out the Rives forum, I've seen this question asked there.

This summer, for one of my projects, I plan on making panels, with piano hinges. That way they can support themselves when being used, and folded up and stored away when not in use.

My permanent solution will be to have the audio and video in two separate rooms, but that's later.
