Yes, its true there will probably never be 1080p broadcasts, due to bandwidth issues. Its also true that *some* of the "1080p" TVs throw away alot of the signal when proccessing, but not all of the sets do. I know the Sony LCOS and HP DLPs do not throw away any of the info. What the author, and apparently you, fail to realise, is that some of the 1080p TVs have really good pictures. Upsampling/deinterlacing 480i signal to 1080p has a *huge* effect on the picture. While its not as good as a good 1080i signal, it can still be surprisingly good. IMO, some of the 1080p TVs have the best pctures out there, regardless of source-that's the reason to buy a 1080p TV.
