Some Region 2 areas are PAL (ie, UK) and some are NTSC (ie, Japan). Which format will be output by the Region 2 player? If you have a recorder that expects NTSC, it won't record the PAL material (you'll get a messed up signal). But if that's the case, can your Region 2 player convert PAL to NTSC?The bottom line is that if you have a Region 1 DVD recorder, you must input an NTSC signal (native NTSC or PAL-converted to-NTSC).
The disc will not have any type of region coding (just like a Region 0 disc, no restrictions except for format compatibility -- PAL, NTSC, etc). Region codes are set by the movie studios, not by the CE manufacturers.
