Denon DVD-3910/Sharp LC-C3742U set-up help needed

I've had the Denon for a long time and ran it to an old TV with the DVI cable.
I bought the Sharp today and have everything working exceot the HDMI input from the Denon. Trying another route, I hooked up the Denon to the TV with component video cables. Neither video transmittal system works, although the DVD player still outputs audio into the HT receiver and plays the audio fine.
The in-use input selection lights on the Sharp are brighter than the not in-use lights, indicating they are connected.
Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA.
I have cycled the Denon's HDMI button through both outputs and neither work.
