Hi Jaiello and Jack, the source is dishnetwork VP211. I'm getting the DVR version of the dish net receiver in tomorrow. I also have the Denon DVD 3910. Actually the KDS-R70XBR2 does a good job with the DVD source, but the standard def stuff on dish net is not as good as I would like.
Jack I had the KDS-R60XBR1 prior to upgrading to the 70" XBr2. What surprised me was the impact the 70" has over the 60". It seems so much bigger when you have it at home in the living room. The picture on my new set is better than the 60" I had. I think your right about the scaling on SD source material. This TV resolves everything, and that includes all the imperfections of the original signal. An example of just how good this TV is.. I bought my father in law a Mitsubishi 73" DLP TV several months ago. It can't retrieve detail in the same way as the Sony. It seems overly soft in comparison. In fact the Sony SXRD technology is superior in most ways to the Mitsubishi DLP. I compare both on a regular basis and the Sony SXRD is 'in a different league' in most respects.
