Will my 400+ DVDs--mastered of course in 480I--and played on a progressive DVD player--that INTERPOLATES the image to 480P--look better on a, say, 1080P TV--that INTERPOLATES the image to 1080--or will the latter merely expose the low-res signal's warts?

I just bought a 1080P TV and my answer to the 'look better' question is HELL YES!!!!!!!!!! The TV is a Samsung 67" RPTV, DLP-type, with 1080P resolution. Wow do my old DVDs look great.*

I'm thrilled.

One thing I'm increasingly convinced of--I'm NOT joining the format war--I won't buy a hi-def DVDP until the dual-format machines are in their 2nd generation.

* The few that do not look better, such as A&E's Horatio Hornblower series, were recorded in standard 4-by-3 480I and truncated to 16:9. The HH movies are very soft looking.
