Home Video Asylum

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

Several suggestions:

1. First, on your Oppo's Speaker Set-up page menu try setting it for Downmix Stereo (rather than 5.1CH).

2. Since you're playing stereo CDs, try using the supplied RCA cables instead of the coax; hook up the R/L "Mixed" outputs to your Receiver's R/L stereo inputs.

3. On the Audio Set-up page menu you should experiment around with the RAW & PCM setting and the LPCM rate (48K; 96K; 192K) until you find the most satisfying resolution.

Congrats! The DV-981 is a superb little player, just like the older OPDV-971; I hope that there isn't anything wrong with your new player because they are well constructed and very securely packed for shipping, but if these suggestions fail to resolve your problem sound-wise(grin) I'm confident that Oppo's support staff will be able to help.

Also, please email me if I can be of any further assistance; I have Oppos in both the upstairs and downstairs A/V systems.

Cheers,
AuPh

PS: Do not imbibe too heavily while hooking up electronics; you'll come up "short" every time! :o)
