What's as good an upscaler as an Oppo?

TVs, VCRs, DVD players, Home Theater systems and more.

I'm looking for something that upconverts standard dvd to 720p. I have an Oppo, and it's a bit twitchy for me.

Any suggestions? I wouldn't want to go much beyond $400, otherwise we're getting into HD/BLU territory which I'm going to wait on for another year.
