What does Amazon's bestseller list tell us? (HD DVD, B-D, etc)

As of Wednesday morning I see that the top sellers in Amazon's DVD list includes:

2 300 DVD
3 Planet Earth DVD
6 300 Blu-Ray
10 300 HD DVD
14 Fifth Element Blu-Ray (remastered)
16 Planet Earth HD DVD
17 Planet Earth Blu-Ray
54 Resident Evil Apocalypse Blu-Ray

And on the video game bestseller list:

1 Sony Playstation 3
2 Nintendo Wii
4 Sony PS/3 DVD remote
5 Sony PS/2 console (silver)
6 Sony PS/2 console (black)
7 Sony PS/3 contro1ler

Looks like "Planet Earth" has lost a bit of traction overall, but it's been near the top of Amazon's charts in all formats for weeks. Generally, the DVD version is by far the best seller, followed by HD DVD, with Blu-Ray not far behind.

I'm not familiar with the movie "300", but coworkers of mine are eagerly awaiting it. As with "Planet Earth", regular and high-definition formats are being released simultaneously, and maybe as a result, preorders for both Blu-Ray and HD DVD versions also look decent.

The remastered "Fifth Element" Blu-Ray was just released a day or two ago, and it looks like some folks were waiting for it.

Amazon's giveaway of Resident Evil Apocalypse with the purchase of a Playstation 3 has apparently ended, and sales of the movie dropped rapidly as a result. Not sure why it's still on the charts at all.

On the video game charts:

Playstation 3 is selling! It looks like, for the moment, the price reduction has released pent-up demand for this pricey console. But the #2 ranking of Nintendo's Wii is deceptive, because most Amazon visitors are not seeing the Wii listed at it's usual $249 price, but at $399. And sales of Nintendo's DS are broken down by color, and would appear much stronger if all DS sales were combined.
