Blu-Ray is here to stay as long as Sony, Disney, and Fox support it. HD DVD just got a shot in the arm, they needed some increased studio support to stay alive a little longer. Until this war is resolved in favor of one format, mass adoption of HD video formats will be delayed because people will continue to sit on the sidelines waiting for a winner to appear. The only benefactor from this development would seem to be M$; If they can keep both formats from thriving, their own business plans (e.g. HD VOD) are enhanced.
