Let me explain. I have digital cable in our family room, hooked up to an older 4:3 Sony 53" rear projection TV i've had since 2001. But upstairs in my bedroom, there is no digital cable box (or any cable box for that matter), and the cable signal is analog SD (standard defenition), via a conventional 75ohm coaxial cable. I have an old Panasonic 27" CRT TV hooked up to it, but want to replace it with a 37 to 46" high def wider screen TV so I can watch DVD's AND be able to watch SD cable TV. Before I got digital cable on my Sony 4:3 RPTV, I had analog SD cable, and it surprisingly looked almost as good as digital (which is to say, very good!). Sony had some kind of 'line doubling' technology which really worked wonders on SD cable. I am looking for an HDTV that will work very well with SD cable (not all TV's can make a standard signal look it's best), and of course, look great with HD sources. I have essentially ruled out DLP and plasma TV's, so I would be considering LCD or RP-LCD models (like Sony's 3LCD technology). Also, do all current HDTV's have a coax cable input that accepts SD cable TV signals, or are they all geared to just work with digital sources? Thanks in advance!
