Audition all of the above, and then decide...

Easier said then done. A lot of this depends on how well HDMI and/or component is handled with both the source and the display. I've had good luck with a 50 ft Tara labs Component cable which was significantly more expensive than the 50 ft RAM electronics DVI cable I'm also using. YMMV.

Everything else being equal, routing digital video via digital (DVI/HDMI) to the digital display would seem the way to go. But everything's not always that equal.
